You wash your face every night. You bought that serum your friend swore by. You even tried the viral skincare routine from At AltaRd Salon in Centerville. Our licensed estheticians do more than just put a mask on your face and call it a day. We look at your skin, figure out what’s actually going on, and build a treatment around what you specifically need. Whether that’s clogged pores, dull texture, sun damage, or acne scars that won’t fade, we have a service for it.
Facials At AltaRd Salon
We offer three levels of facials depending on where your skin is and what you’re trying to accomplish.
Express facial
You have an event this weekend, and your skin just needs a pick-me-up. We cleanse, exfoliate, do a targeted mask, and get you out the door glowing. It takes about 30 minutes.
Regular facial
It’s a full treatment with cleansing, steam, extractions if needed, a customized mask, and an SPF moisturizer. Your esthetician spends real time analyzing your skin and adjusting the treatment based on what she sees.
Specialty facial
This is for clients with specific concerns like hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, aging, or sensitivity. We use clinical-grade products and techniques that go deeper than a standard facial. Your esthetician will talk you through exactly what she’s doing and why.
Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is one of our most-asked-about services. Here’s what it actually is. Your esthetician takes a sterile surgical blade and gently scrapes the surface of your skin. That removes dead skin cells and peach fuzz in one pass. The result? Your skin feels incredibly smooth. Your makeup goes on better. Your serums and moisturizers absorb more deeply because there’s no layer of dead skin blocking them.
Chemical peels
We use clinical-grade peels applied by a licensed esthetician who controls the strength and timing based on your skin type.
We use peels for sun damage, dark spots, fine lines, acne scars, and general dullness. If you have post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, a series of peels can fade it over time.
Common Questions About Facials
How often should I get a facial?
Every 4 to 6 weeks is a good starting point for most skin types. Your esthetician will give you a recommendation based on your specific concerns.
My skin broke out after my last facial. Is that normal?
Probably yes. Purging happens when trapped debris gets pushed to the surface after deep cleansing or extractions. If it clears up in a couple of days, it’s likely an allergic reaction; if it lasts longer than a week or feels like an allergic reaction, call us.
Do I really need SPF on cloudy days?
Yes. Every day. UV rays penetrate clouds. This is especially true after dermaplaning or a chemical peel, when your skin has no protective barrier. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends SPF 30 or higher daily, regardless of the weather.
What’s the difference between dermaplaning and microdermabrasion?
Dermaplaning uses a blade to remove dead skin and peach fuzz physically. Microdermabrasion uses a machine to sand the skin with fine crystals or a diamond tip. Both exfoliate, but they work differently. Your esthetician can help you pick which one makes more sense for your skin.
